Types of Fee Exemptions Available

The County Assessor's Office administrates a program by which an honorably discharged veteran may receive 3,000 valuation points (or $90) per year to apply towards property taxes or license plates. If interested in enrolling in the program, please contact the County Assessor's Office at (307) 783-0338.

Disabled Veterans

There is also an exemption for people who are more than 50% disabled through the Veteran's Administration. People with that designation can provide a copy of their statement from the VA and claim a county and state fee exemption on one vehicle registered in Wyoming with Veterans plates.

Based in Wyoming with a residence out of state?

The State of Wyoming offers an exemption from County Fees for Military personal who are based in Wyoming, but have a permanent residence in a different state. Please call the Treasurer's Office for more information. 

Veteran License Plates

Applicant must be a Wyoming resident and the vehicle must be owned or leased by the applicant. To qualify, you must have served at least one period of honorable service which resulted in the issuing of a DD214. If approved, your license plates will be forwarded to the county treasurer's office you indicate as residence on your application.  To order your Veteran License plates click here.

Choice Disabled Veteran Plates

Applicant must be a Wyoming resident and the vehicle must be owned or leased by the applicant. The vehicle must be titled in the name of the applicant or may be joint ownership with a member of the immediate family.  The Veteran license plates must be displayed on the vehicle in order to receive the exemption. To qualify, you must have served at least one period of honorable service which resulted in the issuing of a DD214. The Choice Disabled Veteran plates cannot be used to park in the handicapped parking spaces in Wyoming. To legally park in the handicap parking, a separate parking placard must be obtained.

The vehicle must be titled in the name of the applicant or may be joint ownership with a member of the immediate family.  The Veteran license plates must be displayed on the vehicle in order to receive the exemption. The Disabled Veteran plates cannot be used to park in the handicapped parking spaces in Wyoming. To legally park in the handicap parking, a separate parking placard must be obtained. 

A disabled Veteran may purchase one (1) additional Disabled Veteran license plate for either a motorcycle or multipurpose vehicle upon payment of regular registration fees.
