Overview
Children’s Special Health is a program that helps families with children who have special health care needs. By definition, these children are: "Those who have one or more chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions and who. also require health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by children generally"
CSH is a program for children who have medical needs beyond routine and basic care. Our goal is to help your child receive the best possible medical care. CSH provides payment for specialty medical care and coordination of care for children with special health care needs.
Maternal High Risk (MHR) MHR is a program for pregnant women who have needs beyond routine and basic medical care.
Newborn Intensive Care (NBIC) NBIC is a program for newborns who need special medical care in a level 3 hospital. Genetics Genetic Counseling allows clients and families to gain a clearer understanding of inherited/genetic conditions and other birth defects, as well as the risk of recurrence. There is no income eligibility for an appointment.
Services
This program provides:
Eligibility: Your child must meet medical, income, residency, and age guidelines. Covered Services Include:
- Care coordination Specialty medical care
- Some equipment and medications LAB/X-RAYS related to diagnosis(es)
- Support services Evaluations to determine diagnosis
Acute illness; i.e. colds, sore throats Recent fractures/wounds/accidents
Infections Allergies
Ambulance transport .
Care Coordination: Public Health Nurses (PHN) can help you:
Learn more about the importance of a “Medical Home” (a doctor to manage your child’s care)
Identify problems and/or solutions
Learn about your child’s medical condition
Receive important services as close to your home as possible
Find support in times of stress and crisis
Advocate for your child Financial assistance and family support.
Premature Newborn Program
This is a program for families with a premature newborn.
Services
This Program Provides:
- Home visits, guidance, education and support for those families with a premature newborn.
- The emphasis is on providing parents the knowledge and support to help their little one achieve his or her full potential.
